Salvation

Becoming a Christian is not about becoming religious.

It's about coming into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ — the eternal Son of God, who became man, lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and rose again to make eternal life with God possible for anyone who places their faith in Him.

He loved you so much that He was willing to prove it by giving His life for you.

How to have a personal relationship with Jesus

The Bible lays out the path clearly. Here are four truths that help anyone understand what it means to come to Christ in faith.

1

Recognize your condition

Scripture teaches that every person is a sinner, separated from a holy God. Romans 3:23 says, “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God,” and Romans 6:23 reminds us that “the wages of sin is death.” Before we can be made right with God, we have to honestly admit that we cannot fix ourselves.

2

Religion and good works are not the answer

Religious effort and good deeds can feel meaningful, but they can never bridge the gap our sin has created. Ephesians 2:8–9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Salvation is a gift to be received, not a wage to be earned.

3

The Good News: Jesus provided the way

God loved us so much that He sent His Son to die on the cross and rise again three days later. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jesus took our place — He paid for our sin so we could be forgiven and brought home to God.

4

Repent and believe to receive the free gift

Repentance is a change of heart about sin — agreeing with God about it and turning to Him. Believing is more than knowing facts about Jesus; it's resting your whole self on Him alone to save you. Romans 10:13 promises, “whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” You can call out to Him today in simple faith.
